THE FOUNDATION NIÑOS DEL ARCO IRIS

The Dutch Helena van Engelen came to Peru to improve the quality of life of children and the poorest people in the province of Urubamba.

Helena van Engelen

After an intense period of building Helena founded  Niños del Arco Iris, which provides education and health care for disadvantaged children,  young people and their families. The Dutch foundation Kuychi is supporting the project financially in Peru.

Elementary School

Niños del Arco Iris has an elementary school for the poorest children where they enjoy quality education. The students get healthy food every day, so that they can leave behind their chronic malnutrition.
There is also a great deal of attention to hygiene and health care.

CETPRO
At the state-approved secondary vocational school ( CETPRO ) 90 students from 16 years old are studying daily Information technology and Hotel and catering, reception. All students take English lessons.

Students are trained in two years for a state recognized diploma. They do an internship at the hotel. They provide the meals and are used for housekeeping. In this way they experience in their training and the cost of the hotel are kept as low as possible.

Medical and dental practice
In medical and dental practice all needy people from Urubamba and far beyond get the proper treatment  There are also preventative health programs and an integrated healthprogram for family assistance named “Familia Saludable" for  families.
The selected families can count on weekly social and medical prevention, education and assistance.
